Bridge Coffee, Kappabashi

Had some coffee here while in Kappabashi kitchen town, though I forgot to take a photo of it. It was ok; not particularly special.

I think what people seem to like is their ice cream, which I didn’t try.

Pretty sweet craft, literally and figuratively.

Looking at the vast selection, I wondered how they made them.

Turns out some items are made-to-order! Watching the craftsmanship was mesmerizing. You know they’re masters when they make it look easy. If I were doing this I’d make a mistake then try to fix it and end up messing the whole thing up.

There are also a selection of ready-made items you can buy.

I didn’t actually eat the candy; it was too beautiful to eat.

On the way to Jojoen previously, I noticed meat. It was a teppanyaki place and I wanted to come back to try it. So we did.

Sweet views.

Fortunately, we asked what was good. They recommended this sort of seafood pancake that had some roe. It was tasty!

Some veggies, to offset all my meat intake.

And the meat! It was good. I liked it and would eat here again if I stopped by Skytree.

The rice was good because of its chewy texture; I don’t think people know how to make rice like this in the states.

Soba House 大自然 上野店, Taito

Found this while walking around in Taito. Apologies for the potato-quality photo with unintentional sun flares.

I think it had just opened; we were the first & only ones inside.

Since I’ve had a soba + tempura meal elsewhere, I decided to try it here too. I still think NishiAnn‘s is better. This style seems more like a beer batter, but it’s hard to tell. It wasn’t very crispy; instead it was soggy and limp. That kind of ruined it for me.

The soba and accompanying soup was normal. I’m don’t care much for pickles generally.

This was better than the tempura + soba. Can’t remember what it is called though.
