Lattest, Omotesando

In pursuit of coffee, I went here.

With a name like Lattest, I decided to try a latte. Iced.

I liked it better than Bear Pond. Not as much as Streamer.

Turns out the latest series of Terrace House featured someone who worked at Lattest at some point. I didn’t see her there when I visited lol.

Tsurutontan, Roppongi

I barely ventured into Roppongi. A friend recommended this udon place.

I decided to try the beef udon.

20160416tsurutontan02

The udon comes with a large ladle.

20160416tsurutontan03

Massive bowl to go with the ladle. Hand for scale.

Previously, I disliked udon because the noodle texture was soggy and made me gag. This place didn’t make me gag though.

20160416tsurutontan06

Yen for scale lol. It was ok, a little on the bland side possibly since the noodles are larger than other noodles; I wish the beef udon was more beefy / savory. I suppose I prefer ramen to udon.

Got some croquettes too!

Once I was full, I looked at my bowl and it seemed as if I hadn’t even touched it lol. I felt like a wasteful American, but non-ironically this time. Then again, if I had saved it maybe the noodles would have become soggy, which would make me gag.

Sarutahiko Coffee, Ebisu & Sengawa

Went to this coffee shop in two different locations.

The Ebisu shop shares its location with another business.

Got an iced latte. It’s somewhat of a safer choice for me, here in Tokyo. It was ok.

20160414sarutahikocoffee06

Noticed these little dog routers around town.

20160414sarutahikocoffee07

The Sengawa location looks pretty sweet and has two stories.

20160426sarutahikocoffee08

Lol. I don’t even know what they were trying to say.

Tried a drip coffee this time. Disappointed. I think I should just stick to the lattes, or bring coffee from SF lol.

And the bathroom was clean. Tiny, but clean.

Toranomon Koffee, Toranomon Hills

Looks like a proper third-wave coffee house.

They’ve got fancy pastries.

I think this was an iced cafe mocha.

20160416toranomonkoffee09

Iced latte.

20160416toranomonkoffee10

Hand-drip coffee.

20160416toranomonkoffee11

We tried the baked custard too; it was good.

The coffee was ok but nothing to write home about. I think a lot of places in Japan like to burn / dark roast their coffee beans. Maybe next time I’ll try more of the pastries.
