Tonkatsu Saboten, Shinjuku

While staying at the Park Hyatt, I found out there was tonkatsu available in a lower floor. Had to check it out!

I didn’t understand why I was given a stick in a tray, so I asked the staff. Turns out you use it to mix the sauce into the bowl with seeds.

Lots of cabbage.

Curry pork tonkatsu.

Combination pork tonkatsu and shrimp

It was ok. After Tonkatsu Maisen it’s hard to eat any other tonkatsu.

Gut’s Soul Yoyogi, Shibuya

Went here with some friends. Ate almost ALL meat.

We ordered too much. We ate too much.

Everything was ok and it all pretty much looked like this. Wide variety of meat, all grilled on the fire. With us being noobs, the oils and drippings often caught fire, which made the restaurant smoky and made everyone look at us. Often. Lol.

Kushinobo, Isetan The Cube, Shinjuku

Fry everything. Fry it all on a stick. That’s what kushikatsu means to me.

I got the Miybai lunch special.

I had to look at other diners to figure out what this plate was about (separates the sauces). And everything surrounding it (ALL the sauces). And the fish above it (put used skewers there).

There was a pretty good variety of fried food on sticks.

I’d go again for the lunch specials. I like fried food.

First Kitchen, Shinjuku Minamiguchi

Stopped by this fast food place just to check it out.

They have a varied menu.

The french toast wasn’t as good as I had hoped. It was soggy and too sweet; would have been better if the bread was aged / dryer before adding the batter, and if they didn’t use such a heavily processed syrup that just tastes like white sugar with a hint of butter.

Interestingly, the cod roe pasta was decent.

The fries were also kind of soggy. The salt was good, lol.

Kagarazaka Sushi Academy, Shinjuku

An all-you-can-eat (time-based) sushi house that is good. Better than other all-you-can-eat sushi places I went to.

I appreciate the attention to detail for the restaurant entrance experience.
